J-U-M-P // 5 - minute Friday with Lisa Jo!

How much can I say with 5 minutes?
How much can you understand with my 5 minutes of writing? :)

Every Friday I will be linking up with Lisa Jo to write for 5 minutes non-stop, no edits here ! :)
Hope to see you around every Friday! :)

Today's Word is JUMP.

//

If I had two legs why should I walk when I can jump?
Wouldn't it be faster? It saves time, though it could be a little more tiring,
but it gives me the impression that I can get to my destination within a shorter span of time.
Since young I could wait to grow up, to hit 18... I looked at the people who were 18
and thought they were so mature and had an aura of maturity.
Then when I hit 18, I wondered why it felt the same, did I not grow up?
Then I looked forward to 21, and I thought "ah hah, that must be age that will make a difference
in my life. I'll be officially an adult in society."... Now that I'm approaching my birthday,
a tinge of familiarity with how I previously felt at 18 remains.

Then I realized, if I kept on looking at the future hoping that I could jump through time and
experiences, it would be futile and meaningless.
It's the process of sanctification through our relationship with Him,
the journey that Jesus Christ as saved us for.
Even though we mark our lives by the lamp posts society (we ourselves) have put in place,
let us not jump from one to the next, but instead take steps from one to the next,
sometime go down on our knees if it helps us to "slow down" our pace of "life".

//

 How many more lamp posts are you going to attempt to keep jumping to
before you realize that you could have accomplished so much more simply by walking?

  1. i really liked your different take on the word jump. sometimes we do try and take a shortcut, jump to avoid something or get somewhere faster - and miss the benefits of plodding through the journey. doesn't always seem like as much fun, but is much better, in the long run!!!

    popping over from lisa jo's today! have a great weekend!

  2. good point. I think the older I got the less I tried to rush things. I always joke about how people that are really young always want to get older or will even fake their age to say they are older than they are (for legal reasons, or maturity reasons, to impress boys or whatever!). It's funny though how when you are getting close to 30 on up, no one will do that anymore. They will want to start lying about their age in reverse , or slowing down the clock. For example , when was the last time you heard a 40 year old say they can't wait until they are 50? At some point it will catch up to you more. Although, I really don't feel my age most days and swear I must still be 25 as time does fly! I also laugh when my dad says to me every birthday "How does it feel to be a year older". Um- the same?! I mean we don't age a whole year over night, right? It is all very gradual. I will get off my little rant here and say that I enjoyed reading your FMF. :)
